Saturday's Event Celebrates Hometown Heroes

Saturday's main event marked the upcoming 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on the United States and paid tribute to hometown heroes. The event included remarks by Jim Kacmarcik, CEO of Kapco Inc. and founder of the Hometown Heroes charitable organization; a parade of hometown heroes that included police officers, firefighters and military veterans; and a performance of the national anthem by Erica Hoyt, a Nashville singer/songwriter.

The Gathering of the Green Orchestra and five members of the Florentine Opera Company followed. Much of the program continued the patriotic theme with musical selections that honor our nation's heritage.
